Home Care Tips Until You See the Dentist

• Rinse your mouth with warm water

• Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and numb the area

• Take an over-the-counter pain relief medication

• Avoid chewing on the affected side of your mouth as it can cause further damage

• If you experience severe pain or bleeding, visit an emergency room.

Emergency Services Offered by Our Team

At Cape Cod Dental Group, we offer comprehensive services to meet all your emergency needs:

  • Toothache Relief

Dental Arts Studio of Cape Cod provides help with toothaches. They offer services to provide relief from pain and discomfort.

  • Wisdom Tooth Extractions

Wisdom tooth extractions are when dentists take out your wisdom teeth. This can help with pain and discomfort in your mouth.

  • Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is when a dentist helps to fix and clean the inside of your tooth if it gets infected. It can help with pain and make sure that your teeth stay healthy.

  • Emergency Fillings and Repairs

Emergency fillings and repairs are when a dentist fixes a broken or damaged tooth. This is done to help stop the pain and make sure your teeth stay healthy.

  • Broken or Chipped Teeth

Broken or chipped teeth happen when your teeth get damaged. This can cause pain and make it hard for you to eat. A dentist can help fix the damage and stop the pain.

  • Lost Teeth Replacements

Lost teeth replacements are when a dentist gives you a new tooth to replace one that is missing. This helps to make sure your mouth looks and feels normal again.

  • Jaw Pain Relief

Jaw pain relief is when a dentist helps to make the pain in your jaw go away. They can give you medicine or use special tools to help stop the pain.

  • Cracked Dentures Repair

Cracked dentures repair is when a dentist fixes broken dentures. They can fix the denture by using special tools so it looks and feels normal again.

  • Abscessed Tooth Treatment

An abscessed tooth involves an infection in the tooth's root. This can be very painful and, if left untreated, may cause more serious issues. A dentist can help treat this by cleaning out the infected area and providing a filling or root canal to prevent further infection.

  • Tooth Sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity is a common dental issue caused by exposed dentin. This can cause sharp pains when eating or drinking cold or hot foods and drinks. A dentist can help to diagnose the underlying cause of your tooth sensitivity and provide you with treatment options such as desensitizing agents or special fillings.

Don't Live With Painful Teeth

If you have severe tooth pain, damaged or infected teeth, or are interested in implant supported dentures, we may have to perform a tooth extraction for one or more teeth. At the Cape Cod Dental Group, we offer gentle tooth extractions when absolutely necessary. Our team always does everything possible to save your natural teeth, but if infection or damage is too severe, tooth extractions are often the best solution to achieving a healthy mouth. Dr. Jenny Chang is trained in both traditional tooth extraction and advanced wisdom teeth extraction in order to get you into the most ideal oral health state. After you have a tooth extracted, we recommend replacing it with a dental implant, which mimics both the esthetic look and natural function of real teeth. Our team excels at accurate placement and restoration of dental implants to give you back a fully complete smile after tooth extraction.

The process for extracting teeth is very simple. You are provided a local anesthetic to block sensations of pain or discomfort, but for those with severe anxiety can receive oral or nitrous oxide sedation to help keep them calm. Once you are adequately numb, we will gently extract the tooth from the jaw. Most of our patients report only feeling a slight pressure during their tooth extraction. Dr. Chang is careful to extract your teeth without harming any of the supporting or surrounding structures of your jaw. Once your tooth is extracted, we often provide bone grafting to fill in the empty socket where your tooth once was. This allows your jaw to heal to a healthy level that is suitable for supporting a dental implant.
